About Me
Sean Reitmeyer
Hey guys, my name is Sean. I am the founder of The IELTS Heroes, which is a IELTS exam tutoring service dedicated to helping students get their dream score in the IELTS exam. I come from Phoenix Arizona, and I first started teaching IELTS while living in China in 2012. At the time, I had noticed that a lot of students had a fundamental misunderstanding of how to prepare for the exam efficiently. To make matter worse, a lot of the so-called IELTS teachers were teaching in a way that urged students to memorize answers and canned expressions. This style simply doesn’t work. Consequently, the average Chinese IELTS candidate only scores 5 or 5.5 in speaking.
So, I decided to create my own method that is built on continuous progression. Instead of memorizing answers, we will focus on learning the “language functions” that are actually tested during the exam. As we master each new and necessary language skill, we will progress. Or, in other words, we will level up. Just like the heroes of our favorite shows, we will gradually power up to the point that we feel confident taking on any question during the exam. By following my method, you will become an unstoppable IELTS Hero!

Hey! My name is Sean. I have been teaching IELTS since 2012 and was a university professor in the Xiamen University’s English department from several years. I lived in Xiamen for many years and miss it dearly – especially, Sha Cha Mian! It is truly one of my favorite cities in the whole world.

How Can you help me? 你怎样帮我呢？
I have discovered that Chinese students have a remarkable ability to prepare for exams. Chinese students are diligent, serious, and motivated. The problem is the way they are taught at the average IELTS academy is not helpful. This is why I created this method. We need to stop trying to memorize answers. Instead, we need to focus on learning the skills needed in order to express our own thoughts and beliefs. This is the only way to get a high score on the IELTS exam and I think my method can help you do that!

On this website, I offer a lot of free content that you can use to help yourself improve. For those students who want a more serious class, I offer a few different options. I have created a self-study writing course with videos and explanations. Also, I do regular group classes that you can sign up for. For those very serious students, I also occasionally do 1 on 1 courses as well as essay correction.
